RESIDENT FAREW ELDED (Herald Correspondent.) 1 A number of members of the Kopuawhara branch of the New Zealand Labour Party, met al the No. 3 Y.M.C.A. recently to bid farewell to Mr. A. J. Rolfo before he left for Rotorua. In the absence of the president, Mr. R. P. Cairns, Mr. C. W. Cooktit paid a tribute to the good work done by Mr. Roife in the interests of ihe labour Party while a member of the branch and presented him with a iiuntain-pen and cigarettes. It was regretted that Mr. Rolfe’s hasty departure 1 precluded a more fitting farewell being made. •Mr.. R'olfe suitably rep.led. assuring those present that he would carry on 4.he work in Rotorua. Mrs. McLeish, Christchurch, is staying with her daughter, Mrs. Sulivan. No. 4 Camp. The camps in the valley were in darkness on Wednesday night from about 5-30 o’clock when the power railed. Besides lack of light, wireless sets were strangely silent and shift work in the tunnels was interfered with. In the homes candies were hastily unearthed, but some homes had to resort temporarily to improvised .lights consisting of, enamel plate? of fat with rag wicks.
