A veteran cf the Egyptian campaigns of 1882-1884. Captain Livingstone 'McNair. has died at the residence of his daughter in Whangarci. After his discharge from the Black Watch with the rr.uk of sergeant. Captain McNair came to New Zealand, where he engaged in mining on the West Coast until 1903. Tie was appointed to the New Zealand Military Forces as a drill instructor and retired from the service in 1921 'with the rank of captain. His decorations included the Eeyot an Medal, with clasps. Tel-el-Kcbir, E! Tdb and Suakf.n, the Khedive’s Star, and the New Zealand long and efficiency service medal.
