AUCTION SURPRISE
BUYER FINDS OLD SILVER ‘■'How much for the lot?” cried the auctioneer at a recent sale in Gisborne, and the assistant held up an old box which appeared to contain mostly carpenters tools of the kind usually found in a household. After several bids, the lot was knocked down for seven shillings, and the buyer commenced to examine his purchase. To his surprise, he found in an oid pice of canvas at the bottom of the box an ancient English silver watch, and two George IV half crowns and one shilling piece. In another wrapped parcel was found a small cedar box containing a bottle of Bramwell’s One Nought One. The lucky purchaser, needless to say, was overjoyed, for he had not only secured the carpenters tools free, but in addition had also been well paid for his investment. The bottle of One Nought One, that marvellous germ exterminator, of course was really in itself worth the investment, for though sold at only half a crown a. bottle, being four times the strength of the usual elixir, it is to all intents and purposes, worth ten shillings a bottle. This wonderful mixture, which acts like magic on all nasal, throat and chest complaints, and especially on severe colds and influenza, has achieved record sales this year, for its curative properties are known far and wide. Compounded from the best and most expensive ingredients on the pharmaceutical market, its low price is only possible through its enormous sales. One Nought One is retailed at half a crown by all the leading grocers and stores, and also at Bramwell’s New Pharmacy, which, incidentally, has the first open dispensary in Gisborne, customers being enabled to see their prescriptions being made up. Since the buyer purchased his lucky box at the auction, the bidding for such lots has been much more spirited, but so far no further cases have been reported of treasure trove*.*
