Last Night’s Forecast General situation: An anticyclone covers New Zealand, while conditions are disturbed over Eastern Australia. Forecast: Winds light to moderate and variable, with south-easterlies at first over the North Island, but noithwesterlies gradually prevailing in the far south. Seas: In New Zealand waters, moderate to rather rough cn the East Coast of the North Island but decreasing, elsewhere slight. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate winds, with south-easterlies in the northern portion and freshening north-westerlies in the southern portion' seas, slight to moderate. Weather: Mostly fair to fine, but a few showers still possible in the Hawke s Bay-Poverty Bay area, conditions later becoming unsettled in the extreme south-west, cold to-night with widespread frosts, but milder to-mor-row. To-day’s North Island Report Overcast conditions were reported ait Auckland this morning, but blue skies prevailed elsewhere in the North Island. Light to moderate southerly breezes were general. The baromotei had continued 4o rise slowly. Temperatures at 9 o'clock were: Auckland 50 'degrees, Tauranga 44, Opotiki 37, East Gape 45, Gisborne and Wellington 42, and Napier 34. Rough seas were reported at Gastlepoint; ■ elsewhere moderate or smooth. Midday Forecast General situation.—An anticyclone covers New Zealand find the eastern Tasman. Disturbances are located over eastern Australia and near Chatham Islands. Forecast. —Light to moderate and variable winds, with south-westerlies predominating. Weather fine, with milder day temperatures, Tout sharp frosts to-night. Moderate seas.
