AIR FORCE EXERCISES

UNPRECEDENTED SCALE test of new methods FLYING BY NIGHT (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (British Official Wireless.) Reed. noon. RUGBY, Aug. 2. This year's exercises of the Royal Air Force, from next Tuesday until the following Friday, will be on a larger scale than ever before. In the manoeuvres, which will include important night operations, (here will be engaged more than 1000 planes, different types of bombers fighters, scouting machines and ,a ground staff of 20,000. The latest methods of attack and defence will be tested in operations of a magnitude never before possible. Coinciding with the territorial camp season, the exercises will enable members cf the anti-aircraft and observer corns to co-operate. A black-out over 27 counties, including London, on the early hours of August 10 is incidental to the manoeuvres.
