SHEEP RATES MAINTAINED CALVES IN DEMAND WESTFIELD MARKET (Ter Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. At the Westfield stock sale yesterday, competition was very firm for a slightly smaller yarding of ox bed. late rates being easily maintained. Cows and heifers were quoted steady at lato rates. Extra choice ox beef made 34s per 1001 b., choice and prime 31s to 335, second and plain 28s to 31s; choice and prime cow and heifer beef 29s to 31s, boner and rough 21s to 275. Extra heavy prime steers made from £l4 10s to £l6 ss, heavy £l2 to £l4 ss:, medium £ll to £l2 12s Gd, light £lO 5s to £ll 12s Gd, small and unfinished £7 to £lO ss; extra heavy prime cows and heifers £9 to £ll 7s Gd, heavy £8 to £9, medium £0 10s to £7 15s, light £5 10s to £6 ss, boner and rough £4 5s to £5 7s Gd. Prime quality held Jate rates in a long calf sale. Poor and unfinished
sorts eased. Runners made from £2 to £8 7s Gd. heavy vealers £5 to £G 13s. medium £4 to £4 18s, light £3 8s to £4. small £2 10s to £3 Gs, smaller £2 to £2 12s, bobby and rough 5s to 375. A small entry of pigs made firm late rates under keen competition Choppers made from £1 10s to £3 12s, heavy baconers £4 4s to £4 Us, medium £3 15s to £4, light £3 7s to £3 13s: heavy porkers £3 2s to £3 Bs, medium £2 15s to £3, light £2 2s to £2 12s, 'Stores 25s to 40s, slips 28s to 345, weaners 12s to 245. Baconers averaged Gtcl to 7d per lb., and porkers Sri to B : fd. A full entry of sheep made firm late rates for well-finished sorts. A proportion showing the effects of tire recent wet weather sold at lowerrates. Extra heavy prime wethers made from 30s to 31s 3d, heavy 28s Gd to 30s Gd, medium 27s to 28s 9d, light 25s to 2Gs 9d, unfinished 17s to 24s 9d: extra heavy prime ewes, 24s to 2Gs 3d, heavy 23s to 24s Gd, medium 21s to 22s 9d, light 18s to 21s 9d, unfinished 4s to 17s 9ri The lamb entry was heavier and the demand was confined to prime sorts, plain lambs easing. Prime made 17s to 25s Gd; others Gs to lGs.
