'FAT EWES ADVANCE
RISE IN FAT CATTLE PORKER RATES HIGHER ADDINGTON VALUES (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The stock market at Addington yesterday was the'most important of the year, as the fat stock show was held in conjunction with it. A large proportion of the store sheep were poor-condil : oned ewes, which sold at from 9s 3d to 11s Gd. A pen of two-tooth ewes made 16s and sound-moutheds to 11s Gd. A small pen of ewes and good lambs at foot made 9s Id, and two-tooth wethers to 13s Gd. Albout 30 spring lambs came forward, but about half were late hoggets. The sale was brisk for geneuine spring lambs, which made 14d per lb. About 8000 fat sheep were offered, ■the largest entry for many years. Ewes advanced Is Gd a head for better sorts, but wethers sold somewhat irregularly. The sale continued until a late hour with an casing in the final stages. Show wethers made to 635, extra prime heavy to 40s, prime heavy £9s to 345, prime medium 25s to 28s Gd, light to 21s; show ewes to 44s 4d; evtra prime heavy to 335, prime heavy 25s to 295. prime medium 20s to 245, and light to 15s Gd. Prize cattle were sold before the ordinary sale. A champion bullock, an Aberdeen Angus-Hcreford cross, made £27 10s, and a massive Shorthorn £35. Most of the entries ranged from £l9 to £24 10s. The entry in the ordinary fat cattle sale was about 750. The sale was keen from out the outset, (he 'best ec.ws land heifers improving by up to 20s a head. A good deal of
better-class beef sold aft 43s Gd per 1001 b. Extra heavy steers made to £l9 17s Gd, prime heavy £IG 10s io £l7 10s, prime medium £l4 15s to £lO 10s, and light £8 to £11; extra prime heifers made to £l6 2s Gd, prime £ll 10s to £l3. medium £9 10s to £ll. and light to £9’ extra prime cows made to .£ls 12s Gd’, prime £9 15s to £l2 ss, medium £7 15s to £9 ss, and light to £7 10s Porkers showed a rise of 2s Gd a head, and values for baconers were slightly higher than last week. Ordinary choppers met with the besi market this season. Porkers made from 34s Gd to £3 3s Gd, the average price being 7jd to 8.5 cl per lb., and baconers 59s Gd to £5 4s Gd, the average price being C* cl to GiJJ per lb.
