REPORTED MISSING
35FT. AUXILIARY YAWL GISBORNE CRAFT NO NEWS SINCE YESTERDAY Pears are entertained l in Gisborne for the safety ,of a 35ft. auxiliary yawl, Titi, .and .her owner, Mr. Gordon Morice, who put out of the Gisborne harbour early yesterday morning on a week-end 1 cruise, and up To the time of going to press had not returned. Mr. Morice is .known to have made .several trips as far down the coast as Waikokopu and no anxiety was felt at his absence until this morning. An inquiry was received by the Gisborne Harbour Board’s staff at 10 a.m. from the Poverty Bay ElectricPower Board, by ■whom Mr. Morice is employed as a linesman. As a result of a report from the Port Dunedin, a motor ship anchored in the Gisborne roadstead, that a light had been sighted off Tuahine Point last night, the Harbour Board’s launch, Takitimu, with Mr. Ralph Morse in charge, made an investigation of the north-eastern end of the bay ltd-day. Owing to heavy weather it -was not possible to get close in. behind Tuamotu Island, where it was though the boat might have been beached. When passing the island a man was seen to walk to the top of the islet. It was thought that this might be the missing man. NO' trace was found by the Takitimu of any disabled craft, but it has been suggested that the Titi might have been 'blown well up the coast by the prevailing southerly storm.
