RECRUITING IN WAIROA M.P. TO BE APPROACHED (Special to the Herald.) WAIROA. this day. The question of defence was mentioned at the monthly meeting of the Wairoa Borough Council, when the opinion was expressed that something more should be done in this district to enable young men who were anxious to join up with the territorials to do so. The subject was raised by Cr. J. O. Scott, who stated that there were a number of young men here who were anxious to join up, but no facilities were being provided to enable them to do so. In his opinion something should be done about it. and he thought it would be a good idea to approach Mr. E. L. Cullen, M.P. The Mayor, Mr. H. L. Marker, said he agreed with Cr. Scott. In his opinion more should be done, and he felt they would get every support from Mr. Cullen. There were, he knew, a number of young men here who were anxious to join up. It was decided to approach Mr. Cullen.
