GELIGNITE IN PYLON
DEADLY CHARGE FOUND TIME DEVICE SET (Reed. July 29, 9 a.m.) LONDON, July 27. A man with a slouch is believed to have deposited a suitcase at King’s Cross 10 minutes before the explosion' yesterday. Following this clue the metropolis was combed throughout the night and he was traced to North London and taken to a police station. Seventy-five sticks of gelignite were found in an electric pylon in Holland road two hours before the time at which a clock had been set to ignite them. The House of Lords passed the first heading of the Prevention of Violence Bill and agreed to sit to-morrow to pass the remaining stages. The police to-day continued to comb throughout the nation for Irish Republican Army suspects. The police ar c also guarding Hampton Court as a result of the receipt of a postcard reading: “Clear out of Hampton Court. Don’t want to kill women. Irish Republican Army.” It may be a hoax, but no risks are being taken.
