Mr. E. L. Cullen, M.P., visited Wairoa to-day, and attended’ the official opening of the new Rangiahua Native School.—Special. Following 42 years of service with he Public Works Department, 34 of vhich have been spent in the Wanga--jui office, Mr. J. R. Cade, draughtsnan in charge and secretary of the Vo. 8 Highways Council, is to retire nr August 31. Mr. K. G. L. Smith, who for the past three years has been conductor n the Wairoa Municipal Band, will cave Wairoa to-day to take up resi- i fence in Westport, where he has been 'ppointed conductor of the Westport Baud. Mr. Smith was met recently by Wairoa bandsmen and presented vith a silver-mounted baton in recogoi ‘ion of ihis work. Mr. R. Moore has been appointed acting-conductor of the Wairoa Band. —Special.
