HEAVIER CARCASES

MUTTON AND LAMB j EXPORT AVERAGES Mutton and lamb carcases exported during the past season up to May 3f were slightly heavier on the average than those of the previous season, when the lightest averages for some time were recorded. During the past four or five seasons the tendency has been towards lighter carcases, and even this year's increase does not bring the averages up to the weights reached 10 years ago. Averages for the 1925-2 G season are given in the Meat Board's annual report as follows:

Killings during the past season wer larger than those for the previou season.

Season Wethers Ewes Lambs lb. lb. lb. 1925-2G .. 54.6 54.1 34.3 1926-27 .. 55.9 54.5 34.8 1827-28 .. 50.4 54.7 34.5 1928-29 .. 58.0 55.3 34.9 1929-20 .. 55.4 54.2 34.8 1930-31 .. 53.0 53.2 33.2 1931-32 .. 52.9 52.2 32.8 1932-33 .. 55.1 52.9 34.1 1933-34 .. 54.7 54.4 34.2 1934-35 .. 53.2 53.5 32.7 1935-30 .. 54.9 52.7 34.0 1930-37 .. 54.3 53.8 33.7 1937-38 .. 52.8 52.3 32.7 1938-39 (to May 31) 53.3 53.1 33.0
