RESERVE BANK RETURN

STERLING £15,936 HIGHER INCREASE IX ADVANCES RISE OF £.1,520,000 (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Reserve Bank return for the week ended Monday, July 24, was gazetted on Wednesday. The statement is balanced at £30.844,772, or £1,516,196 more than at the close of the previous week. An increase of £15,936 in the value of the sterling exchange reserve has been more than counter-balanced by a rise, in the aggregate, of some £1,500,000 in the level of notes and other demand liabilities. As a result the ratio has decreased from 30.379 to 28.852 per cent. There has been an increase of C! .520,000 in the total of advances, the “other purposes” item accounting for £1,350,000 of this amount. The remaining £170,000 rise is in advances to the Primary Produce Marketing Department.
