UNDER-SECRETARY'S POST (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 2G. Questions were asked in the House oif Commons yesterday about the appointment of someone outside the Civil Service to be Permanent Undersecretary to the Colonial Office and whether the Prime Minister, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, was satisfied that no serving civil servant in Britain was capable of discharging the duties in question. Mr. Chamberlain: I am satisfied that,,having regard to the exceptional pressure on other departments, no equally suitable civil servant could have been made available. Mr. Chamberlain added that all considerations relevant to the publicinterest were borne in mind when making the appointment.
