In the top picture the projectiles (marked by arrows) can be seen just after leaving the guns, before the gases or the explosion have completely emerged. The shells weigh more than half a ton each. The Iron Duke, mow a gunnery-practice ship, flew the flag of Admiral Jellicoe at the Battle of Jutland.
