GISBORNE COMPETITORS MRS. KETIIA’S GOOD SCORE (Special to tlio ilernhl.) HASTINGS, this day. The Maori golf tournament opened on the Hastings links yesterday. Gisborne and district competitors were prominent. In the women’s section Mrs. R. Keiha returned the best net score of 153, from a gross of 197. The best gross score was 177 by Mi’S. J. Hope. Mrs. R. Bullivant had a gross score of 205 and a net cf 163, being tenth on the list, end Mrs. L. Ec.de, who was fourteenth, returned a gross score of 203, her net total being 167. Two rounds were played yesterday. In the qualifying round for the men’s championship, P. Te Wai was among the first 16, his position being eighth on the list with a score of 171, which compared with 157 scored by W. T. Kuru, Who put in the lowest score for the day. Among the second 16 to qualify lor the Tareha Handicap were W. E. Bulliv'ant, 188, and R. Moore and R. Robb 192. ißullivant’s position in this list was seventh and the other two mentioned were eleventh.
