The Meat Bill, which was introduced in the Governor-General s message in the House o'f Representatives this afternoon, is substantially the fame :vs the Slaughtering Inspection Amendment Bill of last session when, the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee (Martin, referred it to a select oJmmittee. The ‘bill co-ordinates the law relating 'to the inspection of meat at abattoirs, the payment of compensation for diseased stock, and retains the proposed clause prohibiting the retail sale of meat at freezing works.
