Two months’ imprisonment was imposed upon Richard Clement Charles Watkins at the Hastings Police Court this morning on a charge of unlawfully and, without colour of right, but not so as to be 'guilty of theft, converting to his own use a motor car valued at £1 GO, the property of R G. Guy. Similarly charged was an older man, Roy Thompson, who pleaded not guilty and, after hearing evidence, the Magistrate, Mr. J. Miller dismissed the information against him. The Magistrate declared that the case was typical Of an ofTence that was getting more prevalent than ever -and, indeed, appeared to be almost a daily occurrence. In consequence, the court had a duty to perform in providing a deterrent.
