Rain again curtailed all county cricket matches and few games were played to a finish, while two were drawn. Low scoring was general and bowling averages were much improved.

The only two centuries of the round were 125 by Ed-rich for Middlesex, and 108 -not out by Gregory for Surrey, who bad a first innings win over Kent.

Gloucester, weakened by the absence of players in the test match, went down to Sussex, scoring only 95 in the first innings.

Matches commenced on Saturday resulted as follows: — Middlesex in the first lost nine for

834 and declared (Robertson 79, Edrich 125). Lancashire 'in the first lost three for 71, the match being drawn.

Derby in the first scored 201 (Buse five for 76), and in the second lost eight for 77 (Andrews five for 45). Somerset in the first made 171 (G. Pope five for 59, Mitchell five for 66). Derby won on the first innings. Warwick in the first made 48 without loss and declared, and in the second lost six for 297 and declared. Glamorgan in the first lost one for 48 and declared, and in the second lost seven for 30. Glamorgan won by three wickets. Gloucester in the first were all out ■for 95 (J. Parks five for 27, James Langridge five for 50). In the second they lost, seven for 105. Sussex in t.he first lost seven for 150 and declared (Sinfield five for 60). Sussex won on 'the first innings. Surrey’s first yielded 231 (Parker 96; Todd four for 45). In the second they lost eight for 187 (Gregory not out 108; Lewis six for 49). Kent in the first made 202 (Gover six for 93). Surrey won on the fir-st innings.

Hampshire in the first made 193 and in t.he second lost nine for 7.9 and declared (Sperry seven for 19). Leicester in the first scored 157 (Bailey ,six for 72) and in the second lost six for 116. Leicester won by four wickets. North-ants in the first made 251 (Merritt 53), and in the second 66 (Perks five for 25; Martin four for 36). Worcester’s first realised 227 (Partridge four for 39, Herbert four for 45). In the second they lost nine for 102 (Partridge five for 32). Worcester won by one wicket. Notts in the first scored 200. Yorkshire in the first lest thrt' for 94, the match being drawn.
