A cloud of smoke, which immediately followed a rough and tumble between two players, gave spectators an erroneous impression of the heat of play in the Rugby League match between Kamo and Ilikurangi, at Kamo. North Auckland. Gabolinsky, Ilikurangi's full back, had been incautious enough to take the field wearing a pair of shorts, in tnc hip pcckol of which he left a box of wax matches. The impact of another player touched the matches off, and the full-back got rid of them with commendable speed.
