ROSE BOWL QUEST HAWKE’S BAY’S VISIT I HEM E TEAM SELECTION By “Dribbler” The initial representative fixture of the Poverty Bay Football Association's current season will be played on the Childers Road Reserve on Saturday, when the Hawke’s Bay team will meet Poverty Bay in a match for the East Coast Rose Bowl. This challenge trcphy was won last year by the Hawke's Bay team, when Poverty Bay took it to Napier, and the southern team is returning the compliment on this occasion. Poverty Bay previously held the bowl for 15 seasons in succession. The team chosen to represent Poverty Bay should provide the visitors with a hard and fast game. The writer is convinced that a stronger side could have been put together out of the material available, 'but nevertheless Hawke’s Bay will have to fight hard to retain, the Prose Bowl.

The outside right chosen for Poverty Bay, J. Burns, is a' member of Eastern Union club. team,', arid is a cool, unselfish player who deserves his place. McGrory, inside right, is a Mercantile player, and is a good tactician, with complete mastery of the ball; he is agile and combines well with his wing partner. First-class Centre-forward At .centre-forward, the Eastern Union player, E. Bridge, undoubtedly will prove a first-class leader. He is a dangerous forward, whose speed and accurate shooting are his finest assets. Another stylish player is A Waugh, Mercantile, who fills • the inside left position. He has good control of the ball, and makes many opportunities for scoring. The 'outside right, J. Dunsmore, Mercantile, is not a brilliant winger, but he is the beat of those available for his side of the line. lie has acquitted himself well in recent club games, .and he should not fail to convince in .this match, especially as he has his elub-mate, Waugh, with him. At left half-back, W. Mulrocney, Thistle, is outstanding, and he should be a big asset to the back division. Resolute tackling and sure kicking are features of his play. W. Hall, Mercantile, is chosen for centre-half, and is a proficient allrounder. resourceful in attack and reliable in defence. He is conspicuous for his headwork. A Forward At Half-back! J.
