NAPIER-TAIHAPE ROAD
MAIN HIGHWAY PLAN Support for the gopbeation of the Raogitikei and Hawke’s Bay County Councils that the Napier-Taihape road be declared a main arterial highway is to be given by the Napier Chamber -if Commerce. The chairman, Mr. W. Harvey, stressed the fact that the road, which' had been in existence for more than 60 years, was the only direct means of communication between Taihape and Napier. It was a reasonably good summer road, but it was unsatisfactory in- winter. That was -.hown by the fact that a man who had •merated a passenger service between ‘.he two centres had recently been obliged -to discontinue operations.
