Salvation Army Wedding
CJutts—Bell Bawl in Altondauco The Salvation Army Citadel, Gisborne, was the scene of a pretty wedding on Wednesday, Jidy 1 2, when Phyllis Mary, younger daughter ct Mr. and Mrs. P. G. Bell, Matawhero was married to Harold Lawlord, son of Mr. and Mrs. 11. S. Cults, Pokeno, Auckland, and formerly of Gisborne. The ceremony was performed by Captain Smith, and the Salvation Army Band was in attendance as a compliment to the bridegroom, who is a member of the band.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore an exquisite gown of ivory satin cut on classical lines. The Lcdice was designed with long sleeves pleated at the shoulder, and a scalloped neeknne edged with tiny loops and caught on either side with a Sj.ray of orange blossom. The graceful skirt was finished with a long train attached at the waistline at the back. /V veil of fine net appliqued in satin was held in place with top-knot of ivory velvet chrysanthemums. Silver shoes were worn and a bouquet of arum lilies intermingled with maidenhair fern completed the ensemble. The bride w'as attended by Mrs. ,i S'
sleeves and was gauged across the front and finished on either side with a diamante clip. A piquant quiltef cap of mauve taffetas with a matching veil and silver shoes were worn, and each attendant carried a bouquet of pink camellias, roses, daphne and blue irises tied with mauve ribbons. Two Mower Girls The two lit fie (lower girls, Dorotr.v Cutis, Pokeno, sister of the bridegroom, and Dorothy Bell, niece of the bride, were dainty figures in anklelength frocks of green taffetas ornamented with scalloped frills. Each wore a quaint green cap and carried | a Victorian posy of violets and daphne, j Mr. Walter Brunton was best man, | and Mr. Colin Bell, brother of hie bride, was groomsman. Following the ceremony, 100 guests were entertained at a delightful reception in Le Grand Cafe. The decorations were artistically carried out in rich shades of mauve and green, and. a white wedding bell was suspended above the bridal table. Vocal solos j and items were contributed by Mrs. | Lyndon and Messes Quinlivan and .1. Stein. Tile bride travelled in n navy blue tailored suit, a mauve jumper and hat, and fox furs. Mrs. Bell, mother of the bride, was wearing a navy blue ensemble, a hat to match, and fox furs. Her posy was composed of lemon-coloured marigolds and daphne. Mrs. Cutis, mother of the bridegroom, chose a brown tailored costume, and a matching hat, a posy of marigolds and daphne completing her toilette.
