GROUP TRAVEL SYSTEM

NORTH ISLAND TRIP EXTENSION PROPOSED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this clay. Plans have now been made by the departments of Internal Affairs and Tourist and Publicity to provide, Under the Physical Welfare and Recreation Act, an extension to the North Island of the group travel system successfully launched in the South Island a few months ago. The system will enable persons .in groups to travel at reasonable Cost to some of the principal tourist resorts and scenic beauty spots oi the North Island during the period when the resorts are not handling heavy traffic.

The aeting-Minister of the Tourist and Publicity Department, the Hon. W. E. Parry stated to-day that a large number of committees were being set up whose functions would be to promote the trips. The whole idea was to enable New Zealanders tb see their own country at considerably less than the normal cost.
