A communique issued by the army headquarters in Outer Mongolia stated that 14 Japanese and three Mongol-Soviet planes were lost in an air battle on Friday in which 102 Japanese and 100 Mongol-Soviet p! a nes part ici pa ted. The battle was fought over Mongolian territory which the Japanese violated and .lasted an hour, ending in the Japanese being pursued into their own territory. A land battle on July 12 resulted in the Mongol-Soviet forces killing 100 Japanese and capturing a large quanlitl of war material. The Japanese renewed the attacks on Friday and Saturday and were again repulsed.
