DENIAL GIVEN

FANTASTIC RUMOURS HUGE LOAN FOR GERMANY SUGGESTED BRITISH AID LIMITATION OF ARMS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, July 22. Several London newspapers give currency to rumours that, during his visit to London for the international whaling conference, Herr Wohltat, German Minister for Economics, engaged in conversations with British Ministers and others, during which a disarmament plan, coupled with a gigantic loan to Germany for assisting in converting her national effort from war production to a peaceful commercial basis, was discussed.

There is no truth in these rumours, which are described in official quarters as fantastic. A message front Berlin says it is denied that Herr Wohltat discussed the question of.a British loan to Germany in return for the limitation of armaments, rumours of which were published by some British newspapers. ■ A Paris report says that official quarters describe the London reports of an- economic peace plan to enable Germany to switch from a war to a peace economy as propaganda to undermine the solidarity of the peace front.
