FEDERATION MEETING \Y AI EGA REPORT (Special to tlig Knrald.) WAIROA, this day. The report of the Wairoa delegates to the fifth annual .meeting -of the New Zealand Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs states that among the more important of the 20 remits was one from Northern Hawke’s Bay that the Federation submit an appeal to the House of Representatives requesting that the Dogs Registration Act, 1908, be revised and that, a deputation be appointed to meet the Minister of Agriculture to place the seriousness of the position before him in regard to the menace of dogs worrying sheep. The remit was referred to the Dominion executive of the Farmers’ Union, after strenuous opposition' from several districts. A lengthy discussion on the possibility of encouraging youth on to farm lands was perused, and it was eventually decided to appoint a subcommittee to prepare a report and submit if. to the next executive meeting. Debating also occupied considerable time at the meeting, it being apparent that a uniform system throughout the Dominion was essential. A small sub-committee is to draft a set ot rules and regulations from reports forwarded from three districts, including Hawke's Bay. Defence way another item on the agenda which necessitated a detailed discussion. It was resolved to support the Government's method of voluntary enlistment, and urge the Hubs to‘do likewise, :bu; at the. same time it was considered that a compulsory training system was essential. Delegates felt that the betteh method was the compulsory one and that a deputation should be sent to the Minister of Defence advising him of the views representing nearly ('OOO rural youths.
