HOCKEY LEADERSHIP UN-CHANGED

Y.M.C.A. IN FORM DEFEAT OF CALEDONIAN FORESTERS’ CLOSE CALL WAtTmi FINISH WELL OTHER OHADES UNALTERED Saturday afternoon's hockey results on the Childers Road Reserve left the leadership in the senior men’s A grade little altered, Y.M.C.A. retaining thenlead of four points. Foresters A are now alone in second place, Caledonian having .failed to win their match against Y.M.C.A., who now seem assured of the championship. The loaders gave a fine exhibition of forward play against Caledonian in me first half, quickly running up a lead of four goals to nil and finishing with in win by four goals to two. Caledonian recovering somewhat in the second spell. Waituhi made the finish of their match against Foresters A a hectic one, and almost succeeded in pulling the game out of the fire. Saturday’s play was marred by two accidents. C. Dixon, an ex-Welling-ton representative, making his first appearance on the Gisborne ground, suffered a broken collarbone when playing for Foresters A, while R. Richardson, playing for Y.M.C.A., received a bad cut over the eye, and had to receive medical attention. In the men’s B grade and the two women’s sections, the positions of the teams remain unaltered, although some of the teams high up in the lists had their margins reduced somewhat.
