REFUGEE DOCTORS

STATE MEDICAL SERVICE AUCKLAND SUCCLSTION A statement that the operation of the full social security scheme was only being held up pending the completion of arrangements between the doctors and the Government was made by Mrs. M. M. Drcaver, of Auckland, when discussing the maternity provisions of the Social Security Act in Franklon. Mrs. Dreavcr added that if New Zealand doctors failed to come into the scheme the Government would proceed with a State medical service. There were many refugee doctors available who had offered to come to New Zealand, and they could be engaged.

The meeting passed a motion expressing confidence in the Government ancl its wholehearted support for the Social Security Act. including the maternity benefit provisions.
