Free Issue Stopped

The free issue of tobacco and matches t.o inmates of the New Plymouth Old People’s Home is to be stopped immediately, according to a decision of the Taranaki Hospital 3oard. Bridge Over Mangahopai Stream Advice was received from Mr. E. L. Cullen, M.P., at yesterday’s meeting of the Wairoa County Council, enclosing a copy of a letter received from Mr. James Armstrong, iMaurigataniwha. drawing attention to the need for a bridge over the Mangahopai Stream, snd stating that he would be pleased 'o support any representations the t-o make to the Minister of Public Works on the matter. The council decided to advise Ur. Cullen to urge upon the Hon. R. Semple ‘the necessity of making a grant on this year’s estimates for the erection of a bridge over the stream.— Special.
