RUSSIA AND JAPAN SOVIET CLAIMS VICTORY. (Independent Cable Service.) (Reed. July 15, 10 a m.) ■MOSCOW. July 14. A broadcast report yesterday stated that 2000 Japanese were killed and 3500 wounded in fighting west of the Khalkhagol River, involving artillery, tanks, aircraft, and infantry, since July G. The casualties admitted by the Soviet are 293 killed and 633 'wounded. The 'broadcast reported simultaneously that fierce air battles occurred over Lake Buirnor, the Russians claiming a victory in everyone, resulting in 61 Japanese planes 'being brought clown and 12 Japanese airmen captured.

The broadcast stated that between May 28 and July 12 199 Japanese machines were shot down, the Soviet losses totalling 52.
