COUNTY CRICKET GAMES IBDON’S DOUBLE CENTURY SOME SURPRISE RESULTS YORKSHIRE’S GOOD WIN (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed July 15, 12 noon) LONDON. July 14. Better batting generally characterised the county cricket matches which were completed to-day. Yorkshire, in particular, showed their best form to secure a comfortable win over Nor than ts, but Gloucester went down to Surrey and Derby secured an easy win over Middlesex.

Yorkshire in 'their first innings made more than 400 runs for the loss of only five wickets, Sutcliffe and Barber each being unbeaten with centuries to their credit., while Yard ley made 03. Although • Gloucester were 300 ahead when they- declared in their second strike, Surrey opened out to make 301 for the loss of three wickets, Gregory being 137 not out.

The Middle.sex -De rby game was notable for its low scoring, Derby being out for 04 runs in their first innings, while Middlesex's second yielded only 76, Copson taking seven wickets for 39.

Lancashire’s score of 403 for five wickets included 217 not out by Iddon and 125 by Oldfield. Batting for Essex, Avery made 161, while Arnold made 100 for Hampshire and Cooper 104 not out for Lancashire. Matches commenced on Wednesday resulted as follows: — Gloucester .in the first innings made 210, and in the second lost nine for 349 and declared (Sinfield 89). Surrey in the first made 259 (Goddard seven for 91), and in the second lost three for 301 (Gregory not out 137). Surrey won by seven wickets.

Middlesex in the first innings made 151 (Compton 80), but in the second were all out for 76 (Copson seven for 39). Derby in the first made 94 (Sims four for 27). In the second they lost four for 136. Derby won by six wickets. Essex in the first innings ran up 474 (Eastman 77, Avery 161). Glamorgan in the first made 273, and followed On to lose none for 32, the match being suspended owing to rain. Essex won on the first innings.

Hampshire in the first innings made 301 (Arnold 109), and in the secon dmade 221 (Bailey 79), James Langridgc six for 75). Sussex in the first compiled 286 (Holmes 80), and in tlie second lost four fop 237. Sussex won by six wickets. Somerset’s first innings realised 163 (Todd six for 46), and in the second 185 (Watt five for 22). Kent in the first made 293 (Fagg 77: Wellard six for 75). In the second .they lost two for 56. Kent won by eight wickets. Lancashire in the first innings pul on 493 for five and declared (Oldfield 125, Iddon not out 217). In the second they lost one for 53. Worcester in the first made 272, and followed on to make 273 (Cooper not out 104). Lancashire won by nine wickets. Northants in the first innings made 216 (Bowes five for 43), and in the second 188 (Verity six for 58). Yorkshire in the first ran up 502 for four and declared (Yardley 93; Sutcliffe not out 107, Barber not out 128). Yorkshire won by an innings and 98 runs. Notts in the first innings made 278, and in the second lost four for 263 and declared (Heane not out 94: Hardstaff 84). Leicester in the first made 246, and in the second lost one for 26. Notts won on the first innings.

Eton in the first made 268 (Boult four for 69). Harrow in the first lost seven for 265 (Crutchley 115, Anson not out 66).
