HOCKEY EQUIPMENT
SHORTAGE IN DOMINION j PROTEST TO COUNCIL A report to the National Council of Sport protesting against the restrictions on the importation of hockey equipment was considered at a meeting of the executive of the Canterbury Hockey Association. The report mentioned the shortage of sticks and balls owing to the restriction of 55 per cent on sticks and 80 per cent on balls from India, from which most cf the supplies were obtained. It was stated that even if unrestricted! importation from England were allowed, the cost would still be prohibitive. It had been found that the Indian sticks, especially, were superior in quality, and lower in price than the English.supplies. The report, which is being presented with the aim of getting hockey more firmly established in the schools, states that unless equipment can be obtained easily the work of 20 years will be wasted.
