BAZAAR IN MURIWAI
SCHOOL FUND AUGMENTED DANCE IN EVENIN'*! (Herald Correspondent.) With the object of augmenting the Muriwai School funds a bazaar was held in the Muriwai Hall on Thursday. The rain, which fell continually throughout the day, affected the attendance, so that the proceeds were smaller than were anticipated.
There was a variety of stalls, clothing, sweets, sewing, hats and shoes, afternoon tea, produce, and meat in charge of Mrs. M. Kemp. Miss I. Richards Miss Taylor and Miss Newman, Mrs. Raihania, Mrs Karepa, Mr. Tawiri, and Messrs. H. Tovey and N. Lister. Nail-driving competitions conducted by Mr. R. Devery were won by Mrs. H. Limn and Mrs. M. Slone and Messrs. T. K. Morgan and J. I Cox. There was keen competition in | estimating <he weight of a dressed I sheep. The successful competitor
was a Standard 3 pupil, Rita Tawiri. whose estimate was 48A1 b, the actual weight of the sheep being 481 b. At the dance held in the evening in tlie hali, which had been prettily decorated with green and yellow streamers, there was only a small attendance owing to the continued bad weather, ljul those present enjoyed dancing {o the music supplied by the Krazy Kat orchestra. An enjoyable supper, arrangements for which were in charge of Mr. and Mrs. M. Kemp was .served in the Anzae rooms. At a subsequent mooting of the Muriwai .School Committee nmtrP billions in kind and willing assistlance from residents of the district and numerous Gisborne business I firms were gratefully acknowledged
