Mr. B. F. Waters, assistant director of the Social Security Department, is spending a few clays in Gisborne on departmental business.
Commodore I. G. Glennie, who preceded Commodore J. W. Rivett-Carnac as commodore commanding the New Zealand squadron, has been appointed captain of the battle-cruiser Hood, a post in which he will perform the duties of chief staff officer to the viceadmiral commanding the battle-cruiser squadron in the Mediterranean.
