OBITUARY
CAPTAIN W. J. GRIGG The death has occurred of Captain ■William John Grigg, in iris seventieth year. For many years Captain Grigg commanded coastal vessels plying between New, Zealand ports. He was the son of a Birmingham hardware merchant and came to New Zealand with his two brothers, joining tho Northern Steamship Company in 1907. _ He commanded several of the company's ships. Captain Grigg later joined the Kaipara Steamship Company and lived at Helensville until four years ago, when •he retired and went to Onehunga. MR. J. T. DARBY An Auckland exchange reports the death of Mr. John Thomas Barry, of 1 Mount Albert, aged G 9 years. Born at Taradale, Hawke’s Bay. Mr. Barry was educated in Sydney, setting up in business as a land agent at Feilding, following his return to the Dominion. Later he followed the same occupation at Whakatane, before going to Auckland 20 years ago. At the time of his ‘ death he was proprietor of the Auckland Wine Company, a firm which he founded 10 years ago. When in Hawke’s Bay, Mr. Barry was a keen cricketer, and In Auckland he Was an enthusiastic follower of bowls. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. -
