WANGANUI RIVER FERRY

A suggestion to construct suspension bridges -to provide access for settlers on the Wanganui River in the Waitotara County has been investigated by it-he Public Works Department and found to toe too costly. The Waitotara County Council has now been, advised- by the department- that it favours ferry boats operating on -a cable, and given proper and reasonable care there was no reason why these boats should not toe satisfactory. The council decided to. ask the department; to prepare an estimate of the cost of providing access to these ferries.
