THE FRENCH FISHING VESSEL BEN HUR ON FIRE after a succession of mishaps off the coast of Newfoundland. The Ben Hur was on a fishing trip and struck an iceberg about 150 miles off Newfoundland She was dismasted and, leaking badly, drifted for two days in thick fog with the crew at the pumps. On the third night the liner Duchess of Bedford sighted the Ben Hur. The crew were taken off and the fishing boat was set on fire to prevent her becoming a menace to shipping.
