Sea and is moving on to New Zealand. Forecast. Winds north-easterly to northerly prevailin';', turning later to iur;h-wo-Tidy or westerly, light to moderate at first in. eastern districts, moderate to strong elsewhere and reaching gale force, in places in the Auckland province. Seas: In New Zealand waters, rough north of East Cone, slight to moderate elsewhere, but rising outlie West Coast. Eastern Tasman Sea: North-easterly to north crly winds, later tending westerly in the northern portion, moderate to s'.font' in the northern portion with lough sens, moderate in ilhe southern portion with moderate seas. Weather: Dull and unsettled' in western, districts 'Wil.li rain in the northern half of the North Island, with some heavy falls: elsewhere, fair to cloudy at first but rain developing to-night in western districts and scattered rains extending over most of the Dominion within the next 24 hours. Temperatures: Becoming milder, blit some frosts to-night especially in the South Island. To-day’s North Island Report Overcast conditions, with rai n general. were reported throughout the North Island, tiiis morning. Light to moderate south-easterly breezes were reported. The barometer had dropped sharply since yesterday. Temperatures at 9 o’clock were: Auckland 50 degrees, Tauranga 51, Opotiki 47. East Cape and Gisborne 52. Napier 42, and Wellington 41. Rough seas were reported at Castlepoint and Napier: elsewhere moderate or smooth.
Midday Forecast General situation: A depression is crossing the central portion of the Dominion and pressure is still low over the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Moderate to fresh easterly winds, later becoming more variable. Weather: Continuing dull with rain at times. Temperature-: Cool. Sens: Rather rough.
