Cow and heifer beef showed an improving tendency under keen competition at the Westfield stock sale yesterday. Ox beef was very firm, the yarding being a full average one. Extra choice ox beef made 33s per 1001 b., choice and (prime 30s 6d to 325, secondary and plain 27s to 295; choice and prime cow and heifer beef 28s to 30s, boner and rough 20s to 2(is. Extra heavy prime steers made from £l3 5s to £l4 15s, heavy £ll 10s to £l3, medium £lO 10s to £ll 15s, light £lO to £lO 15s, and unfinished £0 to £9 12s Gd; extra heavy prime cows and heifers £lO to £ll ss, heavy £8 to £9 15s, medium £0 10s to £8 15s, tight £5 to £G 15s, unfinished £4 to £5 12s Gd. Veal shewed a marked improvin tendency on last week, despite the heavier entry. Runners made from £3 to £7 15s, heavy prime vealers £4 10s to £5 12s, medium £3 ,15s to £4 7s Gd, light £2 15s to £3 10s, smaller £2 to £2 11s, small 16s to £1 lGs, bobby and rough 5s to £1 10s. A less-than-average entry ol' pigs made firm late rates u"der steadv competition. Choppers made from £1 10s to £3 13s, heavy baconers £3 18s to £4 9s, medium £3 12s to £3 17s, light £3 4s to £3 10s; heavy porkers £2 8s to £3 9s, medium £2 10s to £2 15s, light £2 2s to £2 7s, unfinished £1 10s to £1 19s, Baconers averaged 6.Jd to 7iri per lb., and porkers 7.',d to 8d per lb. Sheep were entered in average numbers, and the market over-all was firm. Extra heavy prime wethers made from 28s Gd to 30s 3d. heavy 27s to 28s 9d, medium 25s to 2Gs 9d. light 22s to 24s 9d, unfinished 17s to 21s 9d; extra heavy prime ewes 22s Gd to 255, heavy 20s to 23s 9d, medium 19s to 22s 3d, light 17s to 18s 9d, unfinished 14s to 15s 9d. Larnlbs in average numbers sold steadily at late rates, prime sorts making 17s to 255, and others 9s to 15s.
