NEW SUPER BATTLESHIPS

45,000 TONNERS FOR U.S. TWO MORE PLANNED (Reed. July 12. 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, July 11. The United States Navy's 45.000 tom battleships, for which Hire shipyards at New York and Philadelphia at present are being enlarged, were to-day named lowa and New Jersey. The Navy Department will probably ask Congress next session lor two more, thus forming the world’s most powerful battleship division. An unusual honour was accorded the former Secretary of the Navy, the late Mr. C. A. Swanson, after the State funeral to-day, when lit was announced in the Senate that the destroyer 443, at present under construction, will be named U.S.S. Swanson.
