Popular Swimming Pool
A -large swimming pool -recently constructed: at a seaside resort close to Sydney enjoys a- remarkable degree of popularity, reports a recent visitor to Australia. In one day at the height of the season no fewer than. 11,000 bathers had been attracted to the bail’ll, which owed its popularity to its immunity from sharks, which infest the waters of the New South Wales coast. A magnificent lay-out ha.s been incorporated in the scheme, which cost £47,000, and the bath itself is 150yds long. The
strictest liygenic conditions are enforced there, all bathers being required to submit to medical inspection before -being permitted to bathe, and even then they have to pass through a large antiseptic bath before entering 1 lie main pool. A cut on the hand ys sufficient to debar a person lrom .'rWinuning in the bath.
