rids Morning’s Frost A frost of 0.3 degrees was registered to-day' in Gisborne, this being the fourth frost in succession. The cold map was felt throughout the district and at some places the frost was exceptionally severe. A report from Tikitiki states that this morning’s frost chore was 12 degrees, 'the heaviest for he season. Access to Beach A suggestion that proper access to he Waikanae Beach should be made krough Roberts road, on the western ;de of Grey street, was made to the Hsborne Borough Council last night ,y Cr. Coleman, M.P., renarked that Waikanae was much easier to say. l’axi Licenses The number of taxi car licenses in force at present is more than ample to cope with the existing demand,’’ .stated a report from the works committee to the Gisborne Borough Council last night. The report was submitted following an application for an additional license received at the previous meeting of the council. The council agreed to the committee’s : ecommendation that the number of icenscs should not be increased. Wairoa Hospital Patients In all, 107 patients were treated .n the Wairoa Hospital during June, she number of paments remaining in lospital on June 30 was 4(1. The number admitted during June otalled G 5. The number of patients lischarged last month was SG, five tied, and the number remaining in lospital on June 31 was 40. The average number of beds was 43.8, while 24 operations were performed during the month. —Special. An Unusual Experience While proceeding towards Dannevirke, a Palmerston North motorist was faced with what seemed to be an inevitable accident. An oncoming lorry, heavily laden with posts, was on the verge of passing the approaching motorist when a post unexpectedly fell off’, striking the right front wheel of the car with much force, resulting in a tyre bursting and the wheel being completely buckled. Fortunately the driver was travelling slowly, and was able to pull up quickly, nobody being injured.
