MAYNE MORTON WINS .JOHN GRIEF EX ItE ATEN TWO-HANDED ATTACK (IVr l’ri.'ss Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Mayne Morton (Hutt Valley) proved too rugged for John L. Griffon (Waipukurau) in « 10-round professional contest staged bv the llutt Valley Boxing Association last night. It was a spirited contest, but Morton did the leading throughout and gradually wore his man down with a '.wo-handed attack to the head and body. Grifl’en boxed cleverly, but there was not much power in his punches. Tlie end came in the ninth round when Morton put his man down for nine with a left hook. Upon Griffon gamely resuming the perpendicular a right cross ispreadeagled him again. The referee counted to nine and raised Morton's hand. Both contestants scaled lOst 51b.
