FOUR INCHES OF HAIL

Bitterly cold weather was experienced in Wanganui yesterday and one of the heaviest hail .falls for many years was experienced during the afternoon. The whole of th<j city and suburbs was covered with a thick mantle of white, which extended to the surrounding back country. The fall was exceptionally heavy at Castlecliff, where 4in was recorded in places.
