f N TER-S CI TOOL DTI A W The principal game in the fourth grade Rugby series in Gisborne on Satuldov was tint between tv>e borne High School second fifteen and a team from the Wairoa District High School. The game was a very hardfought one all the way, Wairoa showing form well in advance of that exnrc’ed from them. Gisborne played wed, but both sides defended resolutely. The result was a 3 —all draw. Mr. J. Green was the referee. Alter an indifferent start, Marist fourths settled down to their work in their game with Old Boys and, as the match progressed, clearly gained the upper band, winning by 23 points to 13. The referee was Mr. E. Sharpe 1 1 ; ihe fifth grade, Marist accounted for High School B by tho easy margin of lb points to 0. The referee was Mr. H. R. Heiford. School A won by default from Old Boys.
Many taverns of the England of olden ' days sold ale by the yard. “Yard-o’-ale” glasses consisted of a long, slender tube, which ended in a bulb holding about two pints of ale.
