NATIONAL STEEPLES HURDLES TO GREEN ('APE (Eloc. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn,) ( Reed. July 10. « a.m.) MELBOURNE. July 9. The principal results of the Victoria Racing Club's races at Flemington on Saturday are as follow: Grand National Steeplechase, of £2500; 3 miles and 1 furlong.—Giant Killer, 10.11 (R. Walls), 1; Turf Boy. 12.0 (A. Fullarton), 2- Wakerifc, 9.9 (N. Bracken), 3. Fifteen started. Giant Killer gave a surprising performance. He was last away, but moved up swiftly and was in front a mile and a half from home. He cleared right away and won easily by five lengths, with Wakerifc three lengths away, third. Time. 6.15?. The fancied candidates, Dcckard and C-rantley, fell. W. Burke’s stable trained the winners of the Grand National double, including Green Cape last Saturday. Doutt.a Galki Hurdle Race, of £500: 2! miles. —Green Cape, 10.13 (Dummett), 1; Cheery Jack, 1C.5 (Windlc), 2: Capo Race, 10.1 (Sweetman), 3. Five started. Cherry Jack actually won by half a head, but was placed second on a successful protest.
