RUATORIA BEAT MATAKAOA FORWARD STRUGGLE WI REPA SCORES 12 POINTS (Herald Correspondent.) The largest crowd of spectators present at a football match in Rua-to-ria this season witnessed the subunion representative match between Ruatoria and Matakaoa played in Ruatoria on Saturday. Interest was very keen as neither side had been defeated this- season. Ruatoria won by 18 points to 13. The game was exciting throughout and was mostly a forward struggle. One of the features of the game was a beautiful field goal kicked shortly after the start of the match by T. Wi Repa, this player scoring altogether 12 of the side’s 18 points, for besides the field goal, -be scored a -try, converted one and kicked a penalty. At half-time the score was seven to nil in Ruatoria’s favour, -and they increased their lead in -the second spell, until, with 10 minutes -to go. were leading by 18 to three. Ma-ta-kaoa put in a final spurt and crossed the home side’s line twice, both tries being converted. The final whistle blew with the score 18 to 13 in Ruatoria’s favour. Scorers for Ruatoria were W. Hogan, T. Wi Repa, and 11. Rangiuia. Points for Matakaoa were scored by Crawford, Rickard, and B. Pakuru G. Pakuru converted two tries. Mr. T. Seymour was the referee.
