MAORI MAN FINED TRIP BY SERVICE CAR (Special to the Herald.) TOLAGA BAY. this day. Fines totalling £3 were imposed on a iMaori, Mita Tahata, when he appeared before Mr. E. L. Walton, S.M., in Tolaga Bay yesterday charged -with obtaining credit by fraud and also with causing .wilful damage. It was stated by the -police that Tahata had boarded a service car at Tolaga Bay md' travelled as far as Mangatuna. When other passengers were dismounting there the driver of the car heard a sound cf breaking glass and on investigation found that o window had been-broken. He accosted the accused and also taxed him -with having travelled -on the car without the payment c-f a fare. Tahata at first denied having travelled on the -car, but later admitted It. On the first charge he was fined £2 and costs and on the second £1 and costs.
