GERMAN CANARD ENCIRCLEMENT BOGEY TRADE UNION VIEW CALL FOR PEACE BLOC SHIELD FOR FREEDOM (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. July (i, 11.15 -a.m.) ZURICH, July 5. The general' secretary of the Trades LTnion Congress, Sir Walter Citrine, delivering the presidential speech at the International Trade Union Congress, emphasised the importance of building up a union of peace-lovers.
This, 'he emphasised, was not encirclement, -but -a shield' for democracy and for freedom against the- avowed inveterate enemies of both. It was a bulwark against the Nazi-Fascist philosophy and violence and power politics.
The congress pledged support of resistance to invasion- and conquest to prove that Germany’s encirclement .propaganda was a gross' travesty of truth.
